Homebody was officially launched in 2019 after years of side-hustle, holiday-orbiting production cycles. A borderline masochistic employment background in hospitality, retail, and customer service mixed with strongly introverted tendencies and social frustration created a very strong foundation for Homebody to grow from.

Hey, Homebody!

Our history.

The first product that Homebody ever made started as a joke.

The first product that Homebody ever made was a set of socially-exhausted coasters that would speak on behalf of the person holding the cup, to indicate their level of exhaustion, after a long day of “people-ing”. They also have laser cut rings to line up to most common glassware bases, in case you (like me) are a fidgety consumer.

There were 4 escalating “flavours” to choose from:

  • Socially exhausted / Try again tomorrow

  • Stop talking / You’re making it worse

  • I am comfortable drinking alone / Please leave

  • I’m serious / Just shut the fuck up

These coasters sold out.

While they started as a joke, and then into a prototype, and then a final set… there was push back. Truly this was an idea for a college assignment. The faculty didn’t understand who would ever enjoy these, while the students (who were also all working in retail/hospitality/customer service) felt seen. These coasters were the manifestation of the phrase: “I used to be a People Person, but then people ruined that for me”.

These laser cut, cork-backed coasters reflected feelings. They created connection.
It confirmed I couldn’t be alone in these feelings. I was onto something.

Our products.

Coasters were phased out, but the sentiments remained. The introverts would still be frustrated with cultural and social traditions. The world would continue to be exhausting. Events continue to be overlooked by Hallmark.

Enter: Homebody

Self-care items that laugh in the face of capitalist self-care and diet culture. Greeting cards made for events we don’t enjoy attending. Subtle shoutouts to our fellow anxious socializers. Homebody has grown.

Our process.
